Anna Shashura

A 5’4″ guard from Bethlehem-Center High School in Fredericktown, Pennsylvania, carrying a 4.1 GPA, Anna Shashura, is our Female Athlete of the Day.  She recently passed the 1,000-point plateau by scoring 31 points in her team’s 51-44 victory over Brownsville in a Section 4-AA game.  Anna needed 21 points coming into the game to reach 1,000 and got it on a layup to open the scoring in the third quarter. The senior guard became only the fourth girl in the past 17 seasons to reach 1,000 career points at the school.  She is ranked second in her class.  With a long list of accomplishments under her belt through her junior season, Anna’s NSR scouting report speaks to her versatility, ”Quick learner. Executes. Ball handling is strength. Good ball distribution. Dribbles and drives to the hoop with both hands. Can pass off the dribble. Accurate behind-the-back and no-look passes. Not afraid to shoot. Can hit the three or drive to the hoop. Quick shot off the pass and the dribble. Likes to shoot threes from the corners and wings. Accurate from anywhere inside the arc.”  In her essay to college coaches, Anna says, “Ever since I started playing sports I have had to be a leader. I have learned, through playing soccer, basketball and softball, that being a leader means serving others and setting an example. Playing on a travel team I had to be leader. We were all from different schools and did not know each other. I had to pull us together and get us to work as a team.”
