Get Scouted Scouting CareersNational Scouting Report has evolved.
After one year of planning, months of testing and a one-week trial period, NSR officially unveiled “Evolution” — an enhanced, user-friendly, interactive portal system – Monday afternoon.
NSR’s new state-of-the-art system includes:
- Tracking system for college coaches and NSR prospects.
- Redesigned, printer-friendly personal brochures.
- Easier picture uploading with auto-resizing for web pages and brochures.
- Faster web page updates.
- Accessible information on all devices.
“We are very excited,” NSR president Rusty Rigney said. “The kids love it. The families love it. The coaches love it. We have received lots of positive feedback about the look and ease.”
NSR wasted no time marketing “Evolution” to college coaches. Several national directors, area directors and scouts manned an NSR booth last week at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) convention in Atlanta. More than 100 college coaches stopped by the booth for demonstrations.
“The coaches loved it,” Rigney said. “We pulled them into the booth and demonstrated all the new features. Then we put them to work [on the computer], so they could try everything out.”
Perhaps the biggest change is a new dashboard from which college coaches can save and track prospects they are interested in recruiting. Coaches can log in to the NSR web site to access prospect contact information immediately. In the past, contact information was only available to coaches through the prospects’ regional searches and personal brochures. If coaches weren’t on a prospect’s list, they had to request contact information through NSR’s corporate office in Alabaster, Ala.
“We’ve always wanted to protect the prospects’ information, so we forced college coaches to contact us first,” Rigney said. “Now, we can protect the prospects’ information without forcing the coaches to take that extra step.”
“We’re still going to be very protective of the prospects’ information. We will verify that the coaches work at a particular university before giving them access to our system.”
Because college coaches are required to log in, NSR is able to track their activity on the web site. Through their recruiting organizers, prospects are able to track which coaches searched for them, who requested contact information, and who viewed their profiles and videos.
NSR also made radical changes to the prospects’ personal brochures, replacing the old four-page version with a modern two-page version. Each brochure contains a Quick Response (QR) Code. Coaches are able to scan the QR code to watch a prospect’s video. If a coach is logged in, he or she can print out the prospect’s brochure, complete with contact information. Prospects are able to log in to their portals and print out unlimited brochures to take to tournaments, showcases and camps.
Prospects should have an easier time uploading photos to their NSR web pages and updating their online profiles. The new system includes auto-resizing — the same feature used by such popular sites as Facebook — that automatically adjusts photo sizes and retains quality. In addition, when prospects update their profiles, the new system allows NSR to move through the verification and security process more quickly.
“Every day matters in recruiting,” Rigney said. “We don’t want to delay the recruiting process.”
