How is it, you might ask, can a scouting service have over 90 percent of its senior prospects receive college offers? The answer is simple — focus on quality, not quantity.
At National Scouting Report, our on-the-ground scouts are constantly on the prowl hunting for “our kind” of high school student-athlete. They are out there and we do find them, but the process we doggedly stick to is not an easy one to follow, yet that is our way and we are dedicated to it today, just as we have been for the past 32 years. We are trained that for us to maintain our status as the most dependable entity in high school scouting and college recruiting that there is one, and only one, way to go about our daily business — find the gold because in gold there is ultimate value.
Gold to NSR scouts is not finding and enrolling the greatest athlete. It is discovering the student-athlete that has a keen sense of responsibility to his sport, studies, self and society. Each day this is a quest for us and we deem ourselves successful only when we have pushed through the sports landscape until we have identified, evaluated and verified that special prospect that has demonstrated an uncommon combination of athleticism, intelligence and character. And, it does not matter one bit to us if that person’s athletic talent lands him in the smallest or largest school, the most celebrated, or least lauded, college program. What really matters to us is that we have aligned ourselves with a student-athlete that college coaches will be immensely proud to recruit, sign and have as an integral part of their team and their college’s student body. In short, NSR prospects bring forward the qualities every college coach desires.
There is no compromise in our quest to find and enroll these golden prospects. There is a great sense of accomplishment when we are successful which overrides any temptation to lower our standards for the sake of padding our pockets.
