To garner second All-America honor for earning crown

Carly Sevald

Former NSR diving prospect, Carly Sevald, a 5’6″ junior at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan claimed the NCAA DII three meter diving championship held in Mansfield, Texas this week.   A product of Mercy High School in Farmington Hills, Michigan, Carly won the title after having taken the prelims the day before.  In the championship final round she walked away with the top score outdistancing the second place finisher by nearly 19 points.  As a sophomore, she earned First Team All-America status after finishing sixth and seventh, respectively, in three-meter and one-meter national competition.  She will doubtlessly repeat following this year’s competition.  She has proven to be an accomplished student as well.  Majoring in special education, Carly was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (3.5+) for fall and winter 2011 with a 4.0 GPA and also earned the Coach’s Honor Roll for the fall of 2009, winter 2010 and fall 2010. Carly’s NSR scout was Steve Lamay, AD for Eastern Lower Michigan.
