Alexa Gaumer

We are very pleased to present as our Female Athlete of the Day, Alexa Gaumer, a 5’6″ hoops guard carrying a 4.0 GPA from Bishop Seabury Academy in Lawrence, Kansas.  A born leader, Alexa gathered a bunch of post season honors following her junior season last year including being selected as her school’s MVP, named All-Area First Team and All-State Honorable Mention.  She currrently holds the school records in scoring and assists.  Her NSR scout report reads, “Alexa is a great player. First off, she is a tough kid that does not back down to adversity. Offensively, she is extremely fundamentally sound, great shot and tremendous range. Can produce points even when she is the focus of the defense. Can get into the paint at will and seems equally comfortable going right or left. Quick off the dribble and very rarely a drop off in speed. High basketball IQ and can feed the post. Ball handling is above average and can handle pressure.  Great on-ball defender and can really shut down her man. Team leader.  A perfect 4.0 student in the classroom, Alexa would make a tremendous addition to any college program.”  In speaking to college coaches, Alexa says, “Playing at the next level has always been my vision and the biggest life goal that I constantly want to achieve. It’s what makes me who I am and why my love for the game is so big. Every game I have ever watched whether it was the atmosphere or the camaraderie of the players it just made me want to be part of it even more. I’m the type of person that if I set my mind toward something or if someone gives me a task I will accomplish it and achieve it beyond expectations. I work hard every day whether it’s trying to become bigger, stronger, faster, or improving my basketball fundamentals. My basketball IQ is one of my strongest points, which I believe, helps me understand what I need to improve on and what my strong suits are. My work ethic is what I am most proud of. I’m the first one in and the last one out of the gym and always try to match myself up with someone that I know will challenge me and help me improve. Not only do I strive to make myself a stronger player, but I also love making sure my teammates are improving as well.”
