Alex Okopien

As our Male Athlete of the Day, Alex Okopien is the type student-athlete that NSR scouts love to work with throughout their high school careers.  A 3.6 GPA student, Alex is not only a three-year starter on Fenton High School’s football team, but he has been selected to be on the school’s Leadership Council for three years, too.  An aspiring physical therapist, Alex draws raves from his NSR scout Steve Lamay who in his scouting report on Alex says, “On and off the field Alex Okopien makes an impact. On the field, as a DL, he disrupts the offense by averaging nearly a tackle for loss per game. Equally good stopping the run and rushing the passer. Alex is very durable as well, he has started 26 consecutive games for the Tigers. He was voted 2nd Team All-League in the Flint Metro this past season. Off the field, Alex is a member of the National Honor Society and maintains a 3.567 GPA. He is a leader with his teammates and classmates. He is a very engaging young man equally capable of communicating with his peers as well as coaches, teachers and administrators. If you recruit Alex he will make an impact on your team, school, community and you.”  Addressing college coaches interested in recruiting him, Alex says, “Above all, sports have taught me to be passionate about what I do, no matter what it is. I have found that playing football, and being passionate about the game, has instilled in me the ability to always be the best I can be at the things I do. I personally believe that the only true way to be the best you can be is to have passion for what you do, and that has all been a beneficiary from playing the game I love. My life would not be the same if I were not passionate about the things I do and love. If I were to live my life without passion, I wouldn’t find life to be as meaningful. Passion enhances everything thing in my life, and there are many things that I am passionate about because I have a great connection with them.”
