NSR Male AOD: Cullen Cox, a 6’0″ 255-pound DL from Cypress Ranch High, Texas, with a 3.4 GPA

The recipient of our Male Athlete of the Day is Cullen Cox from Cypress Ranch High School in Cypress, Texas.  This 6’0″ 255-pound defensive lineman was twice named Defensive Player of the Week this season.  He sports a 3.4 GPA.  In his essay to college coaches, Cullen says, “Playing in college has been my dream for as long as I can remember.  Football is my life, it is my family, it is my passion.  I have always and will always give every ounce of effort to my team and my game.  Football is everything to me and I’m not ready to give up the brutal lifestyle.  I am prepared and would be honored to play at the next level.”  In his scouting report on Cullen, NSR’s Jason Wesley says, “Cullen Cox is an overall smart football player when he steps on the field. He is a great example of a student-athlete. He bolsters a 3.55\4.0 gpa in the classroom, and he uses those smarts to out wit offensive lineman. The other great thing that helps Cullen on the field is his strength. He is the strongest on the team, with a 400 lb bench and a 450-pound squat.  He has great technique, is very quick on the ball, and uses his hands very well. Being the only 3rd year player on the D-line, Cullen will be asked to do a lot this year, but he’s up to the challenge. With the ability to motivate other player’s around him, his determination and heart will spread among his teammates. He is a humble young man, and has great character, which would be an asset to any program. I am honored to work with Cullen and his family during this exciting time of his life.”
