NSR Male AOD: Tyler Pate, 6’3″ guard from Port Aransas High, Texas, with a 3.6 GPA

Our Male Athlete of the Day is a Texas All-State basketball player from Port Aransas High School in Port Aransas, Texas.  Tyler Pate is a 6’3″ guard carrying a 3.6 GPA.  He has piled up an impressive list of accomplishments as his team’s top scorer and rebounder.  His honors include being selected as District MVP, 1st Team All-Region, 1st Team All-State and st Team All-South Texas as a junior.  His NSR scouting report says, “Tyler can play the point, shooting guard, and if you want to go small he can defend the wing position. Tyler perimeter game is simply above average and his improving do to training and more reps. I saw this player make two threes right handed then as the defender started to play his right hand then he he made three-3pts left handed. Tyler Pate at the point position has great court vision and his truly a general on the floor. He command the offense as if he drawing up the plays himself. Tyler at the point, is the coach on the floor.Tyler is a throw back player. He is a Gym Rat and a basketball junkie. Best thing I learned about Tyler is a quote from one of his coaches,”even though Tyler is our best player in our school he practices like he is on the chopping block or going to get cut.”  To college coaches, Tyler says, “I love the game of basketball and work to improve my skills daily.  I believe that I can meet any standard set before me on the court.  I want to be a team player and can fit in any program and play any position.  I am excited about the prospect of playing college basketball.”
