Get Scouted Scouting CareersOur Female Athlete of the day is Sabrina Anderson, a 2013 hoops combo guard-forward from Warren Area High School in Warren, Pennsylvania. Sabrina carries a perfect 4.0 GPA. Her NSR scout, Jim Crotty, says of her, “Sabrina is a very gifted athlete. She has a vertical leap of 27”, is fast down the court, has a very quick first step and good ball handling skills. In addition, what stands out to me is her work ethic. She enjoys getting into the weight room and does plyometric exercises and sprint work year round. Sabrina also competes in track and field where in her freshman year she was a state qualifier in the high jump. She qualified as a junior for the Pa state track meet in the high jump were she placed 12th in the state. In the district meet she finished 2nd in the 400 meters and also tied the school high jump record. In the classroom she maintains a 3.9 GPA while taking Honors and AP classes. Sabrina will be an outstanding college player due to her skills and her extreme desire to improve.” Her coach is even more complimentary, if that’s possible, when she describes Sabrina to college coaches: “Sabrina Anderson is the most athletically gifted and hardest working young woman I have ever been associated with. I have been her basketball coach for 2.5 years and she has been a part of my program for 4 years. I have been in the game of basketball competitively for almost 20 years, playing high school, four years of college (Division III) and now coaching. I still cannot remember somebody as athletically gifted as Sabrina. What sets Sabrina apart from her competition is her speed, vertical leap, quick first step, and her determination. This past season Sabrina led the team in rebounding with 9.0 per game, and she plays the guard spot for us! She was also our second leading scorer with 9.8 points per game. Her highs this season were 20 points and 16 rebounds (which she accomplished twice). She had 8 double-doubles in 23 games this season. This past year she received the team Co-Offensive Player of the year, Rebounder of the Year and Stat Player of the Year awards. The Stat Player of the Year award goes to the one who fills the stat sheet the most, NOT including points scored, such as rebounds, assists, player controls taken, etc. She is a wonderful teammate and helps each of her teammates to become better players. She leads by example and gives 100% every game and every practice. There are times I wonder if I should tell her to slow down in practice, because I am afraid she will tire herself out. Sabrina is also a GREAT student. She is in the top 5% of her class and works hard to be there. Sabrina volunteers her time with girls’ basketball camps and mentoring youth throughout Warren County. She will be successful in whatever she chooses to do in life.”
