Teana Ogden

Our Female Athlete of the Day is Teana Ogden from Ryan High School in Denton, Texas.  She is a guard with a long list of post season accolades comparable to any top-tier basketball player in the state.  She recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play for NCAA DI Oral Roberts University.  Her NSR scouting report glows about her as a player and person when it says, “Teana Ogden is one of the most dynamic young players in North Texas.  A starter since her freshman year, she continues to develop and grow as a basketball star.  Averaging close to 20 points a game as a sophomore, Teana shows she is unstoppable with the ball in her hands.  She is a dynamic combo guard.  She possesses terrific ball handling skills, giving her the ability to create her own shot, when and where she wants to. As a pure shooter you won’t find any better in Texas than Teana. On defense, she is an opponent’s nightmare.  Super quick, with quick hands, her press D is hard to beat evidenced by her 6.2 average number of steals per ballgame.  Teana is relentless up and down the court, and she has the finer nuances to the game as well; a high free throw percentage ~80%, rarely turns the ball over, and to top it off she is a student of the game, studying film and her opponents and critiquing her own performance.  Teana is also a terrific student and overall is a wonderful and personable young woman.”  Teana speaks about her desire to play at the next level in her personal essay to college coaches:  “I am in the gym every single day putting in extra work trying to get better cause I wanna be the best I can be and my parents have always told me that hard work will pay off! So when all my friends and peers are laughing at me cause they say “I have no life and always stay in the gym”, I just ignore them and tell myself that I know what Im trying to accomplish and where Im trying to go.  Iam a great leader on and off the court. I made Captain of the team my Sophmore year. I always let my Coach and teammates know they can depend on me, I give my all not to let them down. Basketball is my passion and a major part of my life. I take my academics just as serious as basketball. I excel in all my classes even the advanced classes Ive taken. I will continue to push myself in the classroom and on the court so I can make it to the next level and SUCCEED!”
