Get Scouted Scouting CareersOur selection for Female Athlete of the Day is Anna Belch from Warren Township High School in Warren Township, Illionois. This 5’11” utility player has a 3.7 GPA and expects to become a high school teacher. Following her junior season, Anna was named to the Top 100 Players by the Chicago Sun-Times. She plays travel softball for the Warren Wave. She addresses college coaches in her personal essay when she says, “While hitting is my strength, I am also proud of my versatility in the field. Since starting travel ball, I have played shortstop, third base, catcher, first base, and occasionally the outfield. Shortstop is my favorite position, but softball is a team sport, and my goal has always been to help the team win, whatever position that means. Just as with softball, I like to continually challenge myself in the classroom.” Her NSR scout, Andrew Novelli, is glowing in his assessment of Anna when he says, “All-State shortstop and third baseman that hit .663 with a 1.218 slugging percentage during sophomore year. At 5’11, 160, Anna is an incredible young athlete that needs to be on all recruiting boards! Sophomore year statistics place in top 10 in Illinois state history for batting average, consecutive hits (12), and doubles. Also had 6 hits in one game. Versatility includes first base, catcher, and outfield as well. Strong and well-built – aggressive at the plate and can drive the ball the other way. Impressive range from the infield – has great length and agility. Good speed on the basepaths – 21/21 on stolen bases as sophomore. Leader that is the first to practice and last to leave. Will instantly become the hardest worker on your team. Off-season hand injury derailed freshman HS season but uninterested in doing nothing, played soccer instead. Was freshman soccer team’s MVP. Challenges herself in the classroom – serious student-athlete maintaining 3.8 GPA taking a rigorous schedule including all honors and AP courses. With an active lifestyle who is also into freestyle skiing, Anna will be a valuable asset to any collegiate softball program.”
