NSR is proud to name Ashleigh Bourdeau, a 5’9″ volleyball hitter from Hadley – Luzerne High School in Lake Luzerne, New York, as our Female Athlete of the Day. Ashleigh carries a 3.3 GPA and has played varsity volleyball for four years, the last three serving as her team’s co-captain. This year she garnered MVP honors in the Adirondack League. Her coach, Edward Decker, says, ” This young lady has a vast knowledge for the game. Her passion, skill level and impressive technique are reason why she started for her high school varsity team as a freshman. Ashleigh is a middle blocker with great height. The majority of the girls her age can barely reach the top of the net. Yet she has the ability to penetrate over the net, making her an extremely effective blocker. Her approach and strength to hit middles is remarkable. She has immense power and the ability to place balls. She has great form when it comes to passing. And her ability to play defense is one of the best on the team, which is why she plays the entire back row. She has one of the hardest and fastest serves in our region – opposing teams find it extremely difficult to pass.”
