Under appreciated QB Rips Georgia a New One

Kellen Moore's performance against UGa was yet another example of his superb talent.

Time and time again over the past three years Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore has put up impressive performances and numbers.  Yet, where’s the love?  His Saturday night primetime dismantling of Georgia’s defense proved, on the big stage, that Mr. Moore is indeed more than people, especially the nation’s college media, give him credit for.  The dude rocks and deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Stanford’s Andrew Luck and Oklahoma’s Landry Jones.

Get this:  first, he’s six feet tall and weighs 190 pounds.  He has the foot speed of you and me.  Arm strength is not his strength, yet he gets the ball where it needs to be when it ought to be there.  He looks like he’s 13, maybe 14, years old.  During a game he appears to be at the mall looking for a pair of jeans at the GAP.  Yet, he plays the position like he was born for it like few others have before him.  In fact, his movements, cool demeanor under fire and decision making are reminiscent of another under-appreciated QB from a few years back.  Remember a guy from Michigan named Tom Brady?  Two peas in a pod, no doubt.

In the UGa game, Moore was nearly unstoppable while being totally unflappable.  His numbers against a helpless Bulldog defensive eleven earned him Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week announced Monday.  The southpaw completed 28-of-34 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns, helping to lead the fifth-ranked Broncos to a 35-21 drubbing over previously #19 Georgia inside the Georgia Dome in downtown Atlanta.

Moore threw for a pair of scores in the first half and added another in the third quarter, giving BSU an insurmountable 28-7 lead.   From there on he methodically whittled down the clock with a combination of runs and short passes.  And, the Prosser, WA, native did not suffer a single sack while finishing with an other-worldly efficiency rating of 170.07.

Mama, young Kellen comes to play and do-wap schedule or not, this is one of the very best college quarterbacks to walk a blue turf field, or any other color for that matter, in a long, long time.  Watch out for him on Sundays in the next few years.
