Dana Olsen

We are proud to select Dana Olsen from Needville High School in Needville, Texas, as our Female Athlete of the Day.  The 5’9 volleyball hitter carries a 3.6 GPA and plans to major in Sports Medicine.  Her high school coach Christine Smyers can’t seem to say enough good things about Dana when she says, “Dana Olsen is an incredible young lady. She is one of the most disciplined student athletes I have ever taught or coached. In class, she takes care of her business, is a leader, and works hard everyday. If she ever has free time, she would spend it doing her school work, never talking to others or wasting that time. I have grade checks every week during volleyball season, and Dana has never had a failing average or an average low enough for me to worry about. She raises animals for FFA, plays club volleyball and plays volleyball, tennis, and track for our high school, and she does an outstanding job of balancing it all while being one of the top students of her class.  Her peers look up to her in the classroom and on the sideline for guidance. She was a wonderful role model that our younger athletes always look to for advice and motivation. She stayed positive, encouraged her teammates, and did everything she needed to do to get them ready for their game. She works very hard in the weight room and during running workouts motivating her peers to do their best.”  Her NSR scout Lance Moss (Houston) is also very complimentary in his scouting report when he says, “Dana Olsen is the ultimate competitor,on the floor, off the floor,in the classroom and at home.Whether it’s on the tennis court,on the track,on the volleyball court, all of which she participates in competitively, or showing her animals competitively in FFA Dana put’s in countless hours of work to compete and be the best at what she does. However volleyball is her passion and the sport that she dreams of playing at the next level, and is working extremely hard daily to improve her already amazing skills to make her dream a reality. She is a leader and earns the respect of her team and coaches by leading by example. Her work ethic is second to none, which will only lead to her improving on her already adequate 25″ vertical jump, which she is obsessed with constantly improving.Dana is a very grounded, confident and driven young lady that comes from an amazing family that fully encourages and supports her in her quest of reaching her dream of playing college volleyball.”
