NSR football scout, Chase Cartwright, is heading to Baltimore, Maryland to be a quarterback for the Arena Football League’s newest team, the Baltimore Brigade.

Cartwright’s football career began with the Northern Arizona University Lumberjacks in 2010. During his time at NAU, he threw for 2,809 yards with 23 touchdowns and seven interceptions. As a sophomore, Cartwright broke into the Lumberjacks starting lineup. He led the team to its first FBS win since 1987 against UNLV.

In 2013, he earned the NAU Football’s Comeback Player of the Year for leading the team to a victory from a double-digit deficit. For that same performance, he received 7 Big Sky Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors. Upon graduation, Cartwright competed in the Chicago Bears minicamp in 2015. At the Bears camp, the Orlando Predators picked up Cartwright for his rookie season. He began his rookie season as a quarterback for the Predators in 2016 but was placed on injured reserve and became a free agent after that season. This arena football offseason, he was picked up by the Brigade coaching staff. Head coach for the Baltimore Brigade, Omarr Smith, thinks Cartwright will be a good addition to his squad.

“Chase Cartwright is a highly competitive quarterback and has the traits to be a future star in this league,” Smith said. “He has a talented arm, good technique, and fundamentals, and more importantly he is a good decision maker.”

Cartwright is ready to get back on the gridiron and train with some of the best in the league. This week Cartwright will report to Baltimore to begin preparing for the 2017 season.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back on the field and playing football again for a great franchise,” Cartwright said. “It’ll also be nice to be around some of my teammates from Orlando who have signed with Baltimore as well.”

In 2016, Cartwright joined National Scouting Report as a football scout based out of Arizona. Cartwright decided to become a scout because he saw the need and value in what NSR does for athletes.

Chase Cartwright began scouting for NSR in 2016.

“NSR attracted me because of their long running history of helping high school athletes gain exposure to the college level,” Cartwright said. “When I was in high school, I didn’t get recruited by many schools, and often look back and wonder how different my recruiting process could’ve been if I had a Scout going to work for me.

“It is because of my story that I carry a chip on my shoulder for the athletes that I work with. NSR gives me the resources I need to make a difference!”The Brigade’s first game will be against the Washington Valor in Washington D.C on April 7, 2017.
