For the past two years, Landry Jones has lived in the shadow of Sam Bradford, Oklahoma’s Heisman Trophy winner.  No longer.  On Saturday in the Glendale, AZ, Fiesta Bowl, the former NSR prospect from New Mexico threw for a school bowl-record 429 yards, surpassing the mark of 418 which he set last year in the Sun Bowl.  Playing on the same field where the BCS national champion will be crowned in less than a week, Landry threw for three touchdowns on 34-of-49 passing attempts.  The Sooners completely dominated the UConn Huskies, Big East champs, from the opening kickoff.  While the OU defense produced two touchdowns, the Huskies’ offense could only muster one all day.  Landry will doubtlessly enter his junior campaign as a Heisman candidate while poised to erase more team passing records established by Bradford and another OU Heisman recipient, Jason White.
