Get Scouted Scouting CareersNational Scouting Report scouts talk to college prospects every day. Most of those prospects would say they work hard. However, few work as hard as 2016 soccer prospect Mia Dubroc.
It shows in her approach to the game and the results she has achieved at Mandeville (La.) High School.
“If your school gives me the opportunity to participate as a student-athlete in your school’s soccer program, I will fully commit to becoming one of your top athletes,” Dubroc wrote in her personal message to college coaches. “I believe any of my current or past coaches will tell you that my work ethic , determination, and dedication are revealed in the way I consistently give 100-percent effort, not only during games, but also at practice. I want to be coached well, I take direction well, and I am eager to reach my full potential as a soccer player.”
A 5-foot-4 midfielder, Dubroc has risen to the top of every soccer team she has played on. Over the summer she hit the road to participate in some of the most prestigious soccer tournaments in the Southeast — and she shined.
“I recently competed in the CASL and Disney Tournaments with many of the nations most talented players,” she said. “These tournaments brought out my best level of play, which has provided me with the confidence that I can compete and succeed at the college level.”
When an NSR scout evaluated her in person, he came away in awe, mincing no words in his description of her talents.
“Mia is a force to be reckoned with on the soccer field,” the scout said. “She is skilled far ahead of her peers. She has great vision seeing the open lanes and a strong leg that puts almost every shot on goal. She never backs down from a challenged ball on the ground or in the air. She is the best player on her high school team and in the top two on her LA Fire Club Team where she leads in assists and is a scorer. I believe that Mia is everything a coach wants in a student-athlete. She has the talent and skills to play at the college level and she carries a 4.4 GPA. Mia is the type of player every coach dreams of having. She’s smart, hungry, coachable, determined and dedicated to being the best player and teammate she can be. In the end, Mia makes others better around her and would be a great addition to any college team.”
Dubroc has been her high school team’s second-leading scorer and assist leader for the past three seasons. As a result, the honors have flowed her way.
Following the 2012-13 season, she earned the Louisiana High School Freshmen All-State 5A Coaches Award. The following season, after her team was a state quarterfinalist, she was named first-team 5A All-State and was presented with the first-team All District Coaches Award. As a junior, she played in the U.S. Youth Soccer National League and finished in the top five in scoring. In high school, she again was named first-team 5A All-State and once more claimed the first-team All District Coaches Award.
Anytime someone mentions Mia in soccer, they naturally think of Olympic star Mia Hamm. At NSR, when Mia is mentioned, we think of Mia Dubroc.
