Daisy Gomez (in white)

Hailing from Shadow Hills High School in Indio, California, our Female Athlete of the Day is Daisy Gomez, a 5’4″ volleyball setter.  This dynamo has managed not only to earn an impressive 4.2 GPA in the classroom, but she has also gathered in a slew of honors including being named All-Tournament First Team at the Salton Sea Invitational this season, selected her team’s MVP each of the past two years, named a team captain her sophomore, junior and senior years, and tapped Fall Sports Hero last year as a junior.  Her NSR scout is volleyball officiando, Cliff Weeks, who says, “Daisy is a hard working smart player.  She is a solid setter that communicates well and directs the play of her team. She finished her junior hs season with 475 assists, 171 attacks, 68 kills and 169 digs which earned her an All-Deanza League 1St Team as a sophomore and junior. She has good footwork and is very quick. She loves to dig and sacrifice her body for the team. Daisy knows how to direct her setting. She also plays year round with her club team Desert Sports Center. Daisy also excels in the classroom as well. I feel Daisy will be a solid setter that many collegiate programs will want to have.”  In her note to coaches, Daisy says, “The role of being a setter may be difficult, but I most definitely love it! I’m a player who’s open for change and doesn’t mind learning or playing a different position. I enjoy being the leader on the court and getting the chance to run the plays. This sport has helped me learn so much, both in and outside of the gym. My education has been very important to me and has always been my first priority. I’m willing to do anything to make myself a better volleyball player and become successful with my education in college.  Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon!”
