NSR Female AOD: Emily Edwards, 5’8″ exceptional guard from Unicoi County, Tennessee, holding a 4.0 GPA

We are pleased to announce that the recipient of our Female Athlete of the Day is Emily Edwards from Unicoi County High School in Erwin, Tennessee.  This 5’8″ dynamo has a very long list of high-level accomplishments to her credit including being named to the first team and MVP of practically every tournament and post season squad for the past three years.  Couple her resume with  outstanding performance in the classroom and you have the ideal high school student-athlete for college coaches to evaluate and recruit.  Her NSR scouting report reads, “She is described by coaches as a floor general who makes everyone around her better. Using either hand to break down defenders is one of her many strengths. She is also a proficient shooter with either hand. A coach who was competing against Emily described her as “a difference maker, who wants the ball at crunch time”. Whether play O or D, she gives 100% effort. Always plays with her head up. Outside shooter who will slash to the net. Point guard capable of playing the 2. She has good vision, spreads the ball well and when opportunity is there she will drive the lane for the shot or create fouls. She is a strong “finisher”. She excels in all aspects of the game, and is a smart player. She plays with confidence, and loves to compete. Emily is very coachable and will take ownership in the coach’s vision. Her motor is always running.”  Her personal essay goes directly at college coaches when she says, “I will bring to your program an excellent student with a 4.0 GPA with plans of majoring in Physical Therapy, a tremendous ball handler, a great outside shot, superior floor vision, a strong supportive family and an amazing love for basketball.
