Jessica Harris

The question is not why did we select Jessica Harris as our Female Athlete of the Day, but how could we not select her?  This 6’0″ middle blocker from Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego is as well rounded as any NSR prospect anywhere.  Look at these accomplishments from a wide range of activities:  As a junior she was named her team’s Offensive Player of the Year, won the Varsity Net Dominanace Award, earned a spot on the Academic Honor Roll, selected as her school’s Athlete of the Month, elected Varsity Team Captain, tapped as a Peer Counselor and serves as an officer of the Beach Cleanup Club.  In her essay to college coaches, Jessica speaks about her desire to play at the next level when she says, “My passion for this sport has only increased these last few years and I am driven to continue to play at the collegiate level. My dream is to have the opportunity to attend a school that would challenge me academically and on the court. I hope to have a chance to show you my true potential as a player, a student and most of all a person.”  Her NSR scout Dave Batzer, speaks glowingly about her.  “Jessica truly has a passion for the game and is one of those athlete’s that gives 110% all the time. She has worked hard to become an outstanding offensive player and quality hitter. She is always looking to improve her game and feels she is improving her jumping ability and her overall endurance. She is the perfect example of a team player with strong leadership ability which is why she was named team captain. She also enjoys beach volleyball which she is using to improve her overall game especially her jump numbers. I believe she will be a contibutor and outstanding teammate at whatever program is lucky enough to get her.”
