In his scouting report on Kelly, Andrew reports to college coaches, “An attack with great speed and agility capable of playing midfield. Smooth athlete with an impressive burst and change of direction. Finishes at the goal – hard, accurate shot with a quick release. On varsity since freshman year. Most comfortable attacking from up top. Good instincts and anticipation – wins ground balls and comes up with draw controls. Very good left-hand and smooth transitioning back and forth. Comfortable and natural with ball in stick. High endurance and stamina and in great shape. The top performer at First Look Combine, 2012. Older sister, Rachel, plays college lacrosse at Grand Valley State. Solid student with a 3.57 GPA. Member of Star Raiders – committed to be Drug-Free and Alcohol-Free.” Her essay to college coaches reveals that Kelly is well-rounded and focused. “Playing lacrosse in high school has taught me to become a better, more mature person. To better shape the person I want to be, I have set certain goals for myself. Academics can set a high bar as to where I will end up; being focused on academics has been my top priority throughout high school and will continue as I move onto college. Although having to balance academics, athletics, and a job can be stressful, it has helped me acquire valuable traits such as being reliable, unselfish, and organized; all traits that will help me succeed in the future. Being part of a team and having a passion for lacrosse has helped me learn more about myself. I know that I am a reliable, unselfish, organized athlete and I might have never gained these traits without lacrosse. Being a student-athlete has shaped who I am today and will continue to influence me positively in the future.”
