Get Scouted Scouting CareersA leader on the volleyball floor and in school, our Female Athlete of the Day is Pepper Baker, a 5’8″ setter from Tallahassee, Florida. This 3.24 student earned the Spark Plug award for the NFVA 16 Elite team last spring. Her NSR scouting report speaks to her talents. “Pepper brings a different energy to court than most girls her age. She likes being vocal at the right times always pushing her teammates in a positive direction during games while she is playing and while she is cheering them on during a break from the bench. She is the type of player every team needs she can be moved around the court as needed during a game to fill voids in places of need. She has great range on the court and backs it up with power. She also is a smart player that can place her shots when needed. One thing that really sticks out to me about Pepper is her ability to jump out of the gym.” In her essay to college coaches, Pepper says, “I have always been a versatile player playing setter, outside and right side hitter for NFVA and both setter and hitter for my Leon High volleyball team. My sophomore year, I was one of only three sophomores to make the Leon varsity volleyball team. We finished in our season 25-4 and as regional finalists. I went to nationals last summer in Reno, Nevada with the 16 Elite NFVA team. Volleyball has taught me that success comes with hard work and dedication. My leadership skills have pushed my teams to play their best.”
