Sam Stockdale

We are very proud to introduce our Female Athlete of the Day from West Salem High (OR).  A senior outside hitter carrying a 3.7 GPA, Samantha Stockdale has earned All-Academic Team honors for the past three years.  Her NSR scout Craig Stanger describes her this way in his scouting report, “Sam is an aggressive, team first type of player that plays bigger than her size (5’10”).  Approach Touch is 9’10” and Block Touch 9’4″.  She has only played Volleyball for four years (3 years club) and is developing her game daily.  Having played mostly at middle blocker, she is now expanding and has shown great ability at the outside hitter position as well.”  IN speaking to college coaches in her personal essay, Sam says, “I am a 5’10” Outside Hitter/Middle Blocker looking for a strong academic and athletic team environment.  With the top hitting percentage and the highest kill ratio on my high school team this season, as well as a 3.7 GPA , I hold myself to high standards and believe in having complete dedication in what I do both as student and athlete. I have won awards in my previous years on varsity ranging from most improved to  most valuable offensive player and first team honorable mention.  When I play I always remember three things:  First, everyone makes mistakes from time to time, so just brush it off and try, try again; second, there’s always room for improvement; and third, no one believes in my abilities more than myself!  Since I have only been playing club ball for three years, I feel I am just beginning to scratch the surface of my abilities.  I look forward to further developing my game in college.  For college, I have no idea what major I’d like to pursue or what area I would like to live in. I am open for change and new experiences.
