Get Scouted Scouting CareersWe are happy to announce our Male Athlete of the Day as Conner Webber, a speedy skill player from Gilmer High School in Ellijay, Georgia. With 4.5 speed, Conner was named his team’s best receiver the as a sophomore and junior while capturing All-Region honors as a junior. A strong academic student as well, Conner has compiled an impressive 3.6 GPA with aspirations of becoming a physical therapist. His NSR scout and long-time high school coach in Georgia, John Arnold, reports, “Connor has very good speed and excellent hands as a receiver. His fundamentally sound in all areas. He does a very good job of blocking and works hard to get in the correct position to block on plays both to and away from him. He is effective in sustaining his blocks and using his hands well. He can play with good physicality when necessary but works on not getting over-extended while blocking on the perimeter so that he can maintain contact. Connor adjusts well to balls in the air and maintains great focus. He runs very good routes. Connor will catch the ball in traffic and does not have any problems catching the ball over the middle. He is very coachable and is an unselfish team player. He has a great work ethic. Connor understands that academics is the top priority as a student-athlete. He has excellent leadership qualities and is looked upon as a leader by his teammates and peers. He has a strong desire to excel in all areas of his life and is someone that is a very dependable and responsible yooung adult. Conner is the type of student-athlete that can contribute to any program in many ways and has the attitude that he will do anything that is asked of him in order to help his team be successful. He will represent his school, his team, himself and others in an outstanding manner and will be a valuable and trustworthy member of any institution that he becomes a part of in the future.” In speaking to college coaches in his personal essay, Conner says, “People have always looked at me as someone they could count on, someone who will always do the right thing. I am always working hard at things because I want to be the best I can be at everything I do. Sports has always played an important role in my life and who I have become. Balancing grades and sports is hard work and is never easy, but life is not always easy. I am willing to put the work in to achieve the success.”
