NSR Male AOD: Matthew Bjork, lineman with a 3.85 GPA from West De Pere High in Wisconsin

Matthew Bjork is a 6’1″, 220-pound lineman and he is our Male Athlete of the Day.  From West De Pere High in Wisconsin, Matthew was named to the All-Conference Team as a junior and has been a member of the team during their two-year run as Divison 3 State Champions.  In the classroom, he has earned a very impressive 3.85 GPA His NSR scouting report reads, “Matthew Bjork knows his hard work and weight room dedication will help him continue the storied success the Phantoms football program has experienced. West De Pere is the two-time Division 3 Defending State Champions and Matthew is the starting center for the team. Matthew posses the work ethic, toughness, and leverage that it takes to be successful at the next level in the trenches.  He has great explosion off the ball, has great feet, finishes blocks, and very rarely is on the ground.  Matthew has learned and developed these skills on the field, but also from being a Division 1 sectional qualifier in wrestling.”  In his essay to college coaches, Matthew says, “Football has not only improved my physical capabilities but has helped me mentally as well. It has driven me to work as hard as I do off the field, as I do on the field, which has made me successful with my academics.  Football has also taught me how to work hard without getting immediate results. This is shown most evidently through my hard work in the weight room. I wake up an hour earlier than most of my peers, five-days a week, to weight train and do agility drills.  Besides work ethic, football has also taught me how to be a leader among my peers.
