Get Scouted Scouting CareersWe are proud to present Max Silcox as our Male Athlete of the Day. Holding a 3.8 GPA, Max plans to major in Biology. He has gathered honors throughout his running career including being named to the All-Conference 1st Team, capturing the individual sectional championship, voted his team’s Most Valuable Runner award and making the All-Area News Sentinel Team. His NSR scout, Rick Green, says, “Max is a tremendous young man with a very strong athletic work ethic, and an even stronger personal character and value system instilled upon by his family and his faith. He is the type of quiet leader who leads by example and sheer determination to be the best that he can possibly be. He sets very high goals for his academic and athletic achievements, and takes no shortcuts in terms of practice and study. Through his consistent effort and training, Max has improved his race times andstate ranking each year, and today is considered to be one of Indiana’s premier high school distance athletes. Max is the type of student-athlete that comes along very infrequently. He is a loyal, trustworthy and dedicated young man who will contribute greatly to his chosen college athletic and academic programs.” To college coaches, Max says, “I not only aspire to further increase my competitive racing, but also to become a better leader for my teammates and peers. I feel as though running influences much more than just my athletic ability, but that it also creates an amazing community of kind people who seek to build each other up. This is why I enjoy my sport so much; it means so much more to me than just a team hoping to succeed. It is a family that excels together, and fails together. I hope one day to run collegiately so that I can take my abilities to a whole new level. Reaching the collegiate level of running would also open up opportunities that just simply are not present in many students’ lives. I want to be a positive influence and leader among a team that is similar to the team family that I have now.”
