Steven Petrilyak

We are pround to name Steven Petrilyak as our Male Athlete of the Day.  A 6’2″, 185-pound shortstop and third baseman, Steven carries a most impressive 3.9 GPA.  He led his district in hitting as a junior last spring with a .365 batting average and had the fifth highest on-base percentage.  He plans to major in Sports Medicine.  In his essay to college coaches, Steven talks about his determination to baseball in college.  “Going to practices, games, tournaments; they have been  part of my daily life since I was a toddler. Dedication and determination is what drives me, and helps me be the best player possible. I’d like to go to college and not only have a positive effect on their baseball program, but also receive a good education and graduate. Being the best is what motivates me on and off the field and I feel this is important not only in baseball, but in life. Playing at the next level is currently my main objective, and I plan on doing anything I have to do to obtain this goal.”  His NSR scout, Steve Swain, one of NSR’s top baseball experts, says, “Steven Petrilyak is an outstanding baseball prospect with tremendous skills, ability and future upside. Steven has great knowledge of the game with equal passion. I have had the opportunity to watch Steven play on several occasions at length. I have also watched him prepare during practice and he’s all business.  Steven can play SS or the corner. He has a plus arm with above average speed. Steven handles himself well in the field with good range and anticipation. He seems to always make smart baseball decisions.  At the plate Steven has above average bat speed, quick hands and can drive the ball to all fields with deep gap power. This kid can play!”
