Austin Wallace

Our Male Athlete of the Day is Austin Wallace who exemplifies the type of student-athlete NSR looks to enroll.  A 2013 grad, Austin carries a 4.0 GPA and is ranked 11th in his class of nearly 700.  He plans to be a pre-med major.  Even though he is a stellar cross country runner, Austin has elected to pursue swimming as his college sport.  His swim coach, Greg Kight, says, “What makes Austin special is his dedication to excellence and a willingness to do what is required of him during practice and during meets. His leadership for our program has been second to none and the team recognizes him as their leader. He is beyond his years in maturity and he is a tremendous goal setter. The goals he sets are far deeper than a sport and he has a vision for his future, which includes being accepted into a University that will provide him the opportunity to earn a degree in Biology while sharpening his skills as a collegiate athlete. Overall Austin Wallace is a student athlete I trust to be a hard worker at practice, in the classroom and be a role model for younger athletes.”  He speaks to college coaches in his personal essay when he says, “I have and will continue to give my all to swimming.  Swimming in college has become a dream of mine. I love the atmosphere of  each meet, the gratifying feeling after each practice, and the knowledge that all the work I am putting forth in the pool will soon pay off. I have been told that I am a “natural” at swimming, but I have also been told that if I work hard enough I can accomplish my goals of swimming on the college level.”
