With regular season action all but finished, high school and college spring sports teams are gearing up for their shot at glory as post season tournaments, matches and meets get underway. Preparedness will have a lot to do with teams advancing, but so will desire and luck. Some favorites will move on through their brackets and others are destined to fall to inferior talent. A mental error here, a blown call there, a phenomenal individual effort here, or a coaching mistake there — these are the things which enliven athletics when championship trophies are within a team’s grasp. And these are also what make this time of year so interesting, intriguing and utterly exciting. Teams will go home without having reached their potential as others will take unexpected rides of pure exaltation. In the end, for the victors, championship titles will be earned, goals will be reached and dreams will come true. And, we will love every moment of it.
