Victoria Williams, 2013 NSR softball prospect, captures MVP honors at prestigious Atlanta showcase

NSR 2013 softball prospect Victoria Williams, a power hitting corner infielder from Palmetto High School in Anderson, South Carolina has been named the Most Valuable Player at the Southeast Top Prospect Showcase.  The event was held at Mercer University in Atlanta on Sunday March 25th.  The showcase included 36 top softball prospects from Georgia, Virginia, South Carolina, Maryland and Florida.  Victoria had an outstanding showcase, hitting an opposite field homerun in her 2nd at-bat of the day and hitting the ball extremely hard several more times.  She is the only player in the history of the event to grade out as a 10 in power and a 10 in hitting for average. We expect Victoria to garner a lot of attention after her showing.  In a press release, STPS said, “She has major Division 1 type hitting ability and will be a fun player to track throughout the remainder of her HS career and through her collegiate career.”  At Palmetto High, Victoria carries a very impressive 4.9 GPA and.  She plans to become a teacher.  In her essay to college coaches, she says, “Coming from an athletic family, I developed a love of the game at an early age. My family helped me to understand that, while sports brings so much joy, it more importantly gives me an opportunity to be a role model for girls younger than me. I try to always remember that others will measure my character by my attitude and behavior on and off the field or court. ”  Victoria’s NSR scout is Upstate South Carolina AD, Mike Ostler.
